Softofu is built so that there is almost nothing to collect. This page explains exactly what happens to your data when you use the site.

Your files never leave your device

Every tool on Softofu runs entirely inside your web browser. When you open or drop a file, it is processed locally on your own device. Your files are never uploaded to our servers, never stored by us, and never seen by anyone else. There is no server-side processing of the files or text you work with.

No accounts and no personal data

There are no accounts to create and no log-in. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information, and we do not build a profile of you.

Local storage on your device

To make the site more convenient, we use your browser’s local storage to remember a short list of tools you have recently used. This information stays on your device, is visible only to you, and is never sent to us. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

Advertising

Softofu shows advertising provided by Google AdSense to keep the tools free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to Softofu and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are useful, in aggregate. This never includes the contents of your files.

Children

Softofu is a general-audience site and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
