How to use
- Drop a broken DWG or DXF in. The tool reads it tolerantly — salvaging every entity it can even when sections, markers or numbers are damaged. DWG files load the self-hosted CAD engine (~10 MB) once.
- Check the preview and the recovery report: it lists exactly what was wrong and what was rescued — recovered entities, repaired structure, skipped unsupported objects.
- Press Repair & download DXF to save a clean, freshly rebuilt DXF that standard CAD apps can open. (Repaired drawings are written as DXF — the open CAD exchange format.)
FAQ
Is my drawing uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read, analysed and rebuilt entirely in your browser — it never leaves your device, which matters for confidential drawings. DWG reading uses the open-source LibreDWG engine compiled to WebAssembly, self-hosted on this site and loaded only when you open a DWG.
What kinds of damage can it fix?
The classic ones: missing EOF or ENDSEC markers, entities stranded outside sections, malformed numbers and group codes, unclosed polylines, broken layer colours and truncated files. It salvages every readable entity and rewrites a clean file. Severely corrupt binary DWGs can only be recovered as far as the engine can read them.
Why is the repaired file a DXF and not a DWG?
DWG is a closed, proprietary format — no open-source engine can reliably write modern DWG files. DXF is AutoCAD’s own exchange format: every CAD application (AutoCAD, LibreCAD, DraftSight, BricsCAD…) opens it, and from there you can save back to DWG if you need to.
